Phasianus colchicus
AKA: Common pheasant

A large, long-tailed gamebird. Males have rich chestnut, golden-brown and black markings on body and tail, with a dark green head and red face wattling. Females are mottled with paler brown and black. They were introduced to the UK long ago and more recent introductions have brought in a variety of races and breeds for sport shooting.

Hi Adam

A superb capture with loads of action from this charged up chicken. Great timing.

This is a great composition and brilliant POV of the pheasant in this spontaneous and interesting pose. I just love it. The colours are well saturated, the details are crisp, the BG is well OOF and it enhanced the bird very well, and the exposure was on the button.

Great work and TFS.

PS. Sorry for the short critique, but Iím having problems again with the cellulites and cannot sit at the PC for long.

hi adam,
looks like the chicken is dancing as you are taking her shot, nice pov,
tfs & regards

Hi Adam.
Pictured by you moment is great. Colours of your picture are really amazing as well as the cropping, DOF (I like the well detailed BG including path so much) and sharpness of the bird. Expressive scene and nice shot. My best regards and TFS.

A delightful capture of this colourful pheasant in a mood that verges of ecstatic, Adam. Is this some kind of a ritualistic mating dance?
A superb snapshot from an impressive point of view.

Hi Adam,
You can almost hear it "clucking away" from here.Lots of action in its wings showing how worked it was.The low angle has made it seem larger than life and your title suits the fella well.Good colour and detail...well done.
Regards, David

What a great shot, Adam. : )
Very funny. Was he flapping AT you???
I have seen this pheasant many times at the Palo Alto Baylands,
but have never succeeded in getting a good shot of him.
Congratulations on this excellent POV and sharpness.
Colors are very good too.
TFs. : )
