[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
During the rut, elk bulls are constantly on the move keeping their harems together. I suppose that this would be better if he were walking into, rather than out of the frame, but it really doesn't bother me too much. I love the light on the antlers and they lead back into the frame a bit. I really wanted the evening sky and the elk in the same shot. It works for me because it captures the feeling of that evening. I try not to let the "rules" distract me from seeing the subject. I want to capture a personal moment in time.

Hi Evelynn,
Superb colors, lighting and composition in this posting. I find it has a lot of mood. I think this is a superb capture.

Hi Evelyn.
Very nice shot.
Harmony of atmosphere, colours, lightning. TFS. Stefan

Hi Evelynn,
I was wondering if you used a polarizer or some filter to get that colors on the sky, but after read you note I realize that these are the colors of the evening!
Wonderful that subtle pink tone on the clouds.
Color saturation of the pines are also very good.
I like also the way the vanishing light "draws" the antlers and the body of the animal.
The overall composition is very good.
Congratulations, thank for share and warm regards,
JM

Your right Evelynn, sometimes it's okay to look outside the box. The Elk moving out of the shot gives a whole new feel to your landscape. Besides that I really like the mood of your picture. The darker sky, green trees and Elk walking silently through the golden grass and sage tell a story to me that the Elk is searching and wandering around looking for a mate.
Thanks for sharing this special place.

Hello Evelynn

The landscape scene is post card quality, the bonus elk adds the element of isolation.I think he is placed nicely in the frame and balances the pink of the clouds.Excellent POV.TFS

beautiful!

Hi Evelynn,
I think you did and excellent job managing this good composition under low light conditions. You were able to keep the colors in the sky, and the elk in the foreground. Good detail in all the foreground elements in the shot.
Scott

Another landscape / animals photo ;)
For someone who doesn't really know where exactly elks live, it could be a great habitat picture, too :)
