...
Sometimes Nature is a painter; sometimes a sculptor, a choreographer.
And then there is the time when Nature is all of the above.

I decided to listen to Lt, and to not expose my nggin to the outdoors without a balaclava...
So on the first morning of this month I decided to photograph some of Nature's art
as presented to me on the inside of my windows.

I have never seen iceflowers that look like dancers before.
Generally I see the flowers in the shape of fir-trees. But here they are: dancing "apparitions"...
The glow in the lower left is the reflection of the rising sun.
The darker area on the upper part is Big Island in Sambro Harbour,
visible thru the frzen seasmke.

A differently formed "ice lichen" on a different pane of glass is here...

Tech talk: shot taken in macro-mode, then scaled and captioned.

Hi Jay

Ice fairies in the woods. Ok, I know its on your window, but it looks like theyre dancing behind a bush. Come to think about it, it seems like theyre doing a pumped-up wild reel.

Well seen and captured in a good composition.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

PS. Sorry for the quickie, but time is in terrible short supply this weekend.

Hi Jay,
Still chilly down east eh, well at least you found a way to stay warm and still show us it's cold. This posting is most eye pleasing, I have tried to take similar photos and can't get it right, great job here by the old master.
Cheers Rick

Hi Jay

This is a very beautiful macro!
The shapes of these iceflowers are wonderful and indeed feed one's imagination. In this case you have ballet dancers...but maybe someody else can see something else. :) To me they may resemble thistles, too :)
Anyway, the light behind them and the reflections from them are outstanding and the colors here are fantastic!
I really like the first paragraphe from you note and is definately fits very well here.

Bravo amd TFS

Bravo et merci....JP

A MOST interesting (and creative) perspective on crystalline ice formations on windows.!!

I like your POV as well as your photographer's notes, but think you should have a million points for "creative interpretation".......

Thanks for sharing THIS one!!

This is truly superb -- much better than the one I posted on Treklens this morning. I love the dancing quality of the figures!

Hi Jay,
very good shot of the frosty window.I like how frost makes natural fractal patterns of great complexity, the kind of thing you see with computer graphics.Your title works very well for this upload, keep 'em coming. Bob

Greetings Jay,
Very nice capture of Jack frost's art work and I agree it looks like dancers turing and twisting their way down the a slope.

Cheers:)
Roy
