[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ladybug having an Aphid for lunch.
Ok so I'm not positive it is a Ladybug (Coccinellidae) but it's body design and prey suggests that it is of that family. This one had no markings at all. The two red spots appeared to be some sort of membrane (not eyes) that were filled with a red fluid of some sort. My guess is that they are some sort of food storage as shortly after the meal (3/4 eaten it turned and walked away) I have many more questions than I do answers.

The white Aphid is actually a shell of an Aphid. there is a very thin strand holding it to the stem. My guess is that it was someones dinner from the night before.

Brilliant colors. A masterpiece.
DOF is often to shallow in macrophotography. You managed to include quite a lot of individuals and details within the DOF. Well done.
The white one look something different. I'm afraid the ladybug won't make any difference.

Hi Chris,
Stuning this macro!
You got a remarkable details on the ladybug, so sharp and clear, and very good the light reflection on their black body.
And the group of aphids adds action to the scene, besides the color accent over the plain green background.
I like so much the DOF value used, their effect on the blur range and the composition made.
Congratulations, thanks for share and my best regards,

Yessss! Great shot!
Good colors and definition, beautiful composition,

Hello Chris!
This is really a very interesting picture also from the documentary point of view! This ladybird among aphids looks like a wolf hunting for sheep! ;)
I really like this composition with nice colours and good DOF (in some parts of picture it would be better).
Bravo also for the idea for picture! :)
Best greetings,

Very interesting and so beautiful your pic. Congratulations!!!

Hi Chris
Terrific macro of the beetle - the aphids appear enormous. Is it possible that the red spots are parasitic mites?

great action capture good macro, good DOF, good color, good focus.

Hello Chris,

An impressive picture! Maybe you'd like to know the name of this beetle, it's Curinus coeruleus (Chilocorinae), used as biocontrol agent against some psyllids, whiteflies, and thrips (Hawaii, Cuba, Indonesia, etc.).

Best regards,

Ricardo

Really a stupendous macro Chris with great point of view and framing to capture a wonderful scene.
The intense colors contrasting with the bottom enhance the beauty of the presentation with good focus and sharpness, although personally I believe that DOF has been scarce, more keeping in mind the bottom of the same one... F6.3 or more even has benefitted the aesthetics of the image.
Anyway, it is an excellent post... thank you for sharing.
A cordial greeting from Buenos Aires... Ricardo
