Owl butterflies

These Owl Butterflies were at the Butterfly and Orchid Gardens in Thames, Coromandel, where Pam / Coasties, Dawn(TL) and I visited on Monday.

There were lots of these Owl Butterflies at the Gardens – I think they were the most popular butterflies there.

This pair were resting on the tree and I was quite touched to see their frayed and tatty wings. They are nearing the end of their lives, and it was very sad to see them.

They look so old indeed. I like the way you captured this back light in their wings. Poor creatures, they don't live very long but I guess that one of their purposes is to make people happy by seeing their beautiful shape and colors. :) Thanks,

Well you can't escape the dark or sad mood of this one Janice..It reminds that life is NOT an immutable thing..Only the creator is so, and it's His plan.
We are sad because we are unable see things from His perspective of course...

Hi Janice,
Impressive capture of these old butterfly. Everything is sad and somehow dramatic. The best pov to underline the degradation of wings.
