Hello again

I'm starting to like this idea of LPs so here's another big panorama from the same spot like the last one ;o)

This is (not that it wasn't obvious) a different POV, just to show you exactly the clouds i was referring to in my previous post.

They were really compact, so landscape shots from the ground level were pretty much out of the picture :(

However, the story from above was a bit different:
When i arrived there (on top) i was really sad and discouraged to so that i was actually between to thick layers of clouds - one under me and one above.
After shooting a couple of shots, i went back into the cafe (they do have on there...at 2634 m!!!) and had a hot chocolate. To my exhilaration, by the time i was finished, the clouds on top mostly vanished (probably due to the very strong winds) and i was blessed with some normal sunlight in order to take some decent shots.

This was one of them and it was probably one of the most difficult of the trip, having the sun directly in front. Unfortunately i've never tried something like the HDR (i've seen some shots on TN that really do look outstanding like that) so this is a normal metering and exposure series of photos stitched together.

Hope you'll like it :)

PS: any suggestions or workshops are very welcomed

PS: no exif on this one since it's a stitch.

Hello Horia!
Anothe nice panorama in your collection! I see that trip to Slovakia was very succesful for the landscape picture ;>
Anyway, very beautiful composition. I really like the clouds - this looks like for the "Neverending Story" movie! All you need is the dragon! ;)
I like also a chocolate-story ;)
Greetings from Lodz,

Hi Horia,
You have been in the mountains and bring us this beautiful shot looking over a sea of clouds. Excellent composition with on the sides the mountains framing the clouds. Interesting light too.
Have a nice evening

Hello Horia,
And I'm really beginning to like these mountain panos of yours :). Oh, do I miss the mountains! Lovely clouds in the middle and the two almost monochromatic cliffs on the corners. Great composition. I really can't see how one could improve this one. OK, perhaps you could have used a neutral grad filter to have less exposure on the clouds. But that would mean using a tripod, so there...
Best wishes,

That is just amazing, I like this even better than the last one. I love the bank of clouds with the mountains peeking above. It really feels like we are on top of the world. Stunning composition

Hi Horia,
The view is breathtaking again... The clouds have a very good effect on the amazing mountain landscape. I'd clone and erase the thing that looks like a ladder on the left side if I were you :o)
Well done and TFS

Hola Horia,
Realmente maravilloso tu LP...
genial trabajo, pov. y bella composición,
felicidades por esta maravillosa foto.

Hi Horia,
I enjoy so much your large posts!
They are so rich in details and colors.
I like very much the warm colors of the clouds in the middle, and the contrast they make against the colder and blue tone clouds surrounding it.
This image has an epic look, really good for my taste.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

Horia, I'm starting to like your idea of LPs too... ;)

Very unusual view... It's not everyday we get to look at the clouds with a PoV above it! And what a vista you have presented! Tfs, Jay

Hot cocao sound good! Think I'll make one before I upload my "Have an ice day"...

Hello Horia,
Indded an ocean with rocky shores :-)
Excellent shades od whites and greys. It looks as if you took the shot when paragliding :-)
Have you mentioned "Diablo" to Radek!? Hehehehe... Some years ago I was (as a doctoral student) occasionally spending nights at my university, using the ultra-fast internet connection to play it on-line (oops, I shouldn't say that I guess :-)). I played Wizard most of the time. Maybe you were in my team once, or I was in yours :-) Who knows...
Now I have my own Diablo at home, named Olga, which is almost two years old and really keeps me occupied :-)
Best greetings my friend :-)

Hi Horia ,

Hi Horia.
Very expressive view. I must say quality of your picture is great. You have controlled lighting perfectly. I have seen something similar only from a board of the plane. Mountains on edges of a picture are looked perfectly too. Excellent and useful for us experience. BRAVO, my friend and TFS.

Hi Horia,
Great to see you post landscape photos, or should I say skyscape photos since you are that high. This is just a awesome looking photo with such a good composition. The v line of the two mountains are perfect. I really love the lighting in this photo where the clouds have this nice shiny look. The LP photo looks perfect.

Hi Horia

Lovely shot - I have never tried stitching, so this may be my inspiration/motivation. TFS James

Hello Horia,

What a great panoramic view with some superb clouds! The landscape is breathtaking and proves again that the best pictures are not taken in perfect light conditions. In my opinion, when the weather conditions become terrible and everyone puts his camera in the bag, is the best time to take incredibly amazing photos.
The stitch is seamless since the transitions between individual photos is not visible. I can't even tell how many of them were used. The composition is beautiful with a correctly placed horizon line and great perspective. I only have one question: why have you placed the sun in the middle of the horizon line? Not that I don't like it. I am just being curious.
I think the main issue you were dealing here while taking the photos was the exposure. You obviously was facing a backlight situation which normally would have resulted in underexposed objects. How did you work around this limitation? Did you use multiple exposures?
Another great asset is the lack (or minimum) of lens flare. I usually have to remove it in PP when facing the same situation. Whatever you did to fix this problem, the results are outstanding! You gave me the itch to take the camera and go out to the mountains. Congratulations for this superb shot and thank you very much!

With Friendly Regards,

Hi Horia,
This one is much better shot than previous. I didnt like that shot. :). This one superb.so seamlessly sticked. The clouds look like ocean as you said and mountains look like Ice bergs. I would like to konw the f stop you used here (and its difficult i guess coz its a stich as u have mentioned.)The clouds were cleared not because of wind but coz of strng desire to shoot there, I guess. And how was hot chocolate?

A wonderful panorama that looks all the more impressive in LP viewing, Horia.
You have done a great job of stitching; it is seamless.
The sea of clouds with peaks sticking out of it to my right strongly reminds me of the views some climbers show from the summit of Mt. Everest.
A panorama at grand scale that leaves the viewer breathless with awe and wonder.
Thanks for sharing it.

In my last comment I asked for more photos from your trip, but I was not expecting another splendid Large post like this one :)
You ocean of clouds is just beautiful, this are really breathtaking landscapes, I have come across some of them, and the way the clouds travel on the montains is most hypnotic for me.
I like very much the approach you offer to us, MF.
You must have enjoyed yourself very much ;)

Hello Horia

Those clouds are like waves crashing into the rocks.A spectacular view at the top of the world.Excellent DOF and POV.The lighting is well handled.Very impressive.TFS

Hello Horia,
This is a very nice excursion you did. I wish that we had these kinds of mountains here but hey, I won't complain as I have a hard time getting on the top of Mont Saint-Hilaire which is only 898 meters, lol! (Too much computer and not enough work out...)

This is a very impressive scenery and the elements were on your site to take a beautiful view of this great place. I know what it is, I have climbed the mountain here quite often and most of the time when I reached the top, I couldn't see nothing event if it’s not high :)

I like this POV, composition and this difference in this contrast between the two peaks. Those clouds look great and you chose and excellent DOF with perfect exposure. Thanks for sharing this nice view :)

Hi Horia,
The LP is simply breath-taking. An eagles-eye-view :)
Excellent PP to pull em' all together.
You can get a free trial version of "photomatix" online. There's a basic HDR program that's free as well.
Very well done.

Hi Horia.
Amazing bird's eye view.It is very impressive.Great composition with splendid "ocean of clouds" among sharp heights mountains on either side.Very nice award for that way as far as there high up.
Excellent work with ligh,i like it very much.Thank you for sharing.
Best greetings Milos

Hello Horia,
Great shot on this one as well. Nice composition with the peaks on the sides and the ocean of clouds filling the void below. The detail is good but the sun seems to have washed out some of the detail in the veery back. Have you tried to use two different layers to reduce the over exposure? Overall though, this is a great shot. TFS!

Hi, Impressive shot! I have only looked at these mountains from below, nice to see what it is like up there.

Hi Horia

Breathtaking view. Very well composed and the stitching is flawless. Stunning work MF..... congrats!

Belle prise de cet endroit en haute altitude. J'aimerais bien y aller un jour.
Merci pour le partage.

Awe inspiring capture Horia, great stitching of these images to give us this large version. Your gallery shows real talent and great verstility. Your da man! Kind regards Steve.

Salut Horia,
Excelente imaginile din Tatra.Preferata mea este asta cu marea de nori,e super.Din pacate aici in Quebec nu prea avem munti adevarati, dar sper sa recuperez la vara cand ajung prin Europa.
Spor in continuare!

Hi Horia,

I missed this from you. It is a stunning image and don't think any workshop is necessary! There is no sign of stitching and you have produced a photo that could easily be regarded as poster quality, I can just picture it on my wall right now!

Excellent clarity throughout the shot and the clouds running like a river are incredible. A very special moment indeed. Only improvement I might so is remove what looks like a man made structure to the left of the shot.

Exposure seems correct. The clouds have a natural white to the as does the snow, a very tricky scene to expose correctly thinking about it!

Top quality post, well done my friend,
