This is a young flamingo… I know BG is not very well...
The young hatch with white plumage, but the feathers of a flamingo in adulthood range from light pink to bright red, due to carotenoids obtained from their food supply. All flamingos have 12 black flight feathers in each wing.

Flamingos (genus Phoenicopterus monotypic in family Phoenicopteridae) are gregarious wading birds, usually 3–5 feet in height. The larger species breed and feed in saline or brackish habitats. Nests are made of compacted mud and are in the form of a mound with a concave top, into which the single white egg is laid.
Flamingos filter-feed on shellfish and algae. Their oddly-shaped beaks are specially adapted to separate mud and silt from the food they consume, and are uniquely used upside-down. The filtering of food items is assisted by hairy structures called lamellae which line the mandibles, and the large rough-surfaced tongue.
Flamingos produce a “milk” like pigeon milk. It contains more fat and less protein than the latter does, and it is produced in glands lining the whole of the upper digestive tract, not just the crop.
Young flamingos like this one feed on this milk for about two months until their bills are developed enough to filter feed. The milk also contains red and white blood cells.

Very nice composition Sebnam, I like the way the bird is standing and the way the head is held. Very good job.

This is a good capture Sebnem. The background is ok.We can't always choose it.
Your note is interesting.I had no idea that any birds produced milk.I thought that was just mammals.
Thanks for posting this.

Hi Şebnem, I have no time to write a decent comment. I give to you the well deserved smily.

Day thought:
"Beauty is its own excuse for being" (Emerson).

Thank you for sharing pictures and notes and for the enjoyment which they give to me.

Wow, Şebnem, I thought you desaturated this one from the thumbnail! Great capture with wonderful lighting.

TFS,
Alli

Hello Sebnem,
this is lovely, the sharpness of the plumage is wonderful. A lovely light brings out the colors and details so well. Very well composed, the BG is a bit busy but in nature shot we can not always choose the enviroment we find our subjects. Very well done.

had no idea these guys started out a different color! Interesting information and another proof I learn something here everday! TFS

Hi Sebnem.
Thank you for interest to my pictures. I am very touched. I like your shots so much too. This one is very attractive. Pose of the bird is amazing as well as the reproduction of all its details including the feather texture. Strong vertical cropping is so expressive and suitable for this subject. BG, it is very interesting, very nice, well coloured, rich of lights and shadows. In a word. Superb done and TFS.
Alexei.
