[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a fun photo, really. Is the duck a reflection of the swan in a 'magic mirror'?

Because there were so many birds in the background I had to severly crop the image to isolate the two main subjects. I was pleasantly surprised with the result, it wasn't too bad and the title lept into my mind. (good thing as not much else goes on in there.) Next, because it was the over exposed image of a bracketed series, I had to do a lot of work in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI to get the brightness and contrast to an acceptable level. Then I had to remove the noise, which was quite visible due to the close cropping. To give it a little 'omph' I decided to add a border, picking the color for it out of a small area on the swan's bill.

Any suggestions on what else might be done to improve it, or what I maybe shouldn't have done, are, as always, welcome.

excellent subject with the duck looking like a reflection. you could intentionally blur and add a wave to the duck, that's not legit on treknature but it would be fine for treklens

Parallel processing... Well caught, Michele. The tight composition you achieved through cropping is very good. TFS and best wishes,

Lol Finny I think that duck is really a little copy cat maybe it hopes that if it apes the swan it will look as gorgeous as the swan, though that may not be true it does remind me of some human behaviour where people in aping others actually lose out on their own wonderful qualities.
On the other hand maybe the gorgeous swan is really a brown duck within.... and the reflection as you call it is actually showing him his trie self. Your reflections have set me reflecting ;)

Hi dear Michele ,
very nice image with lovely mood.
excellent sharpness and colours.
very well captured.

Hello Michele,
This is a very original and unique picture. I love the pose of the two birds and this magic mirror's effect. This is well done and well seen. I think that this frame is a bit heavy (to my personal taste :) Thanks,

This is very well seen. I love this composition. Perfect framing.

Hello Mish

I think you did the right thing when cropping this picture. The tight crop makes it very interesting to look at. The curved neck on the swan - I like it very much. The mallard like a reflection of the swan - great. Nice handling of the light and the colours look very natural. Very good sharpness on the swan. All over a very interesting picture to look at. Nice instructive note to follow.
