GreenWing Macaw

Thank to Ixectrona and Sayre for the correction of its name. :)

I'm sorry I never corrected it sooner. I finally managed to come on after busy periods at school.

Thanks anyway!

A little Parrot humor:

A gentleman attends an auction and notices that one of the items for sale is a large, colorful macaw, and he decides that he'd like to own it.

When the bird comes up for sale, the auctioneer asks, "how much am I bid for this parrot?" and the fellow opens bidding with "Seven hundred dollars".

"Eight hundred!" "Eighty-five hundred!" "Ninety-five hundred!" go the next several bids, and the gentleman bids "One thousand dollars!"

Bidding goes this way for several minutes until the fellow finds himself the proud owner of a parrot for $1200. He approached the auctioneer and asked him "can the bird talk?" to which the auctioneer replied "Who do you think was bidding against you?"

hi steph,
another beautiful bird from you, nice colour tones, well composed shot, the dark bg suits the shot well, the focus on eyes makes the shot special, good framing,
tfs & regards

Hi Stephanie,

A nice portrait, the only thing what I would have tried to do is get some more dof by closing the aperture a bit more, anyway well done and TFS

Salut Stéphanie
Très belle photo que ce joli perroquet. Beau cadrage , belle composition et les couleurs sont magnifiques.
Merci et au revoir ....JP

Hi Stephanie,
a nice picture with lovely colours.
The picure is almost soft only the area around the eye is sharp, IMO you should have use a smaller apertur the F5 for a better DOF, you had room for it (1/1000sec.
I like the POV and compostion.
Well done.

I love the deep red you were able to capture here. And, the POV you used that to get just remarkable detail on the white skin of the face is astounding. I did want to correct you on what type of bird it was though. This is actually a Green-wing macaw and not a Scarlet macaw. They are very similar, except the Green-wing is the second largest macaw to the Hyacinth. And, the Green-wing is the one with the red markings on the face, while the Scarlets have none. It's an incredible shot though!
TFS Steph

Really nice picture. Beautiful colors, contrast, etc... just one thing to note in the description. This is a Greenwing Macaw, Ara Chloroptera. The Scarlet is lighter red and has no lines of feathers in the face.
