Hello my friend

Very nice shot of this youngster. It looks so nice in it's curiousity - like it is wondering what is that strange creature duing with that funny thing. Why is it behaving like that. Is it dangerous or is it drunk.:-).

I fully agree - they are very lovely birds and getting close enough to get a decent shot can take a lot of time. I know, because I have tried for years without result.

You did well Alexei. Nice colours, clever handling og the light, very nice composition and a funny attitude.

Have a nice weekend

Hello Janice

Very good capture of this male Blackbird. I like the composition/cropping very much with the bird looking over his shoulder and int the frame. You did a very good job on the light and the background is well blurred.

I love these birds. They are in some way very social and I have had a couple nesting on my terrace for some years but last year and this year I have seen nothing of them so I think they are dead now. May be an other couple will come - who knows. I also love them because they have such wide range in tones. People talk so much of the Nigthingale but me, I love the blackbirds.

Have a nice weekend

Hello Ena

First of all let me say it is a very nice picture of this shield bug. The handling of light is very good without burning the highlight. The background is well burred to set off the main subject in the best way. The colours look very natural and I like the cropping/composition.

I am not sure about the ID, but I am pretty sure that it is a nymph of the family Pentatomidae. We have one in Denmark which is very close - Eurydema oleracea. These bugs have 4-5 stages as nymphs before they transform to adults so it can be a little difficult.

My advice must be that is if you are curious enough to take one home together with a piece of the plant you found it on and keep it in a marmalade glass or something a like. Keep it moisture in one of the foamy green things used to stick flowers in and wait. In a few days it will transform to an adult bug and then you can look it up in a bug book.

That is how I do and then I also have the pleasure to learn a little about their life.

Have a nice summer

Hello Catherine

Yes, some of them are very beautiful are they not. You have showed this one in a very nice way. Very clever handling of a difficult light and still with details in the shadow area on the front side. Good focus with nice sharpness on the subject and nice blurred background. The cropping/composition with the beattle out of center and making a nice diagonal line from ont corner to an other is very good. The colours look very natural and I like the soft, green background. All over a very nice picture to look at.

Nice job

Hello Marina

Welcome on TN. Nice first post of our National Bird here in Denmark. I think you did a nice job on this one. The handling of the light is good and you avoided (almost) to burn the white plumage. There are very nice details especially in the wings. I like the way the right wing looking almost transparent. Nice frozen action with lots of water splashing around. I do not know if this is the original picture or if it is a cropped version. If it is cropped you might have had a little more space in front of the bird and in my opinion you should have kept it. Apart from that it is a nice picture to look at and I like the action shots much more than the "sitting duck" style.

I am not giving points to anyone as I have turned off the point system and also cannot see any point myself.

Have fun with the future postings

Hello Doreen

Very nice picture of this Blue Heron. I think they are beautiful birds - very sofisticated and proud to look at when they are hunting and very swift too. The small waves around the legs really add some movement to the picture. The colours look very natural and you have handled the light very good too. Nice focus with gooddetails in the plumage.

Personally I would have cropped half of the space in the left and about 1/3 in the top of the picture to bring the heron a little more out of center.

All over a very nice picture to look at.

I do not add any smiley as I have shot off the smileys.

Hello Paul

Lovely picture of the mother and her baby. unfortunately we do not have these magnificent animals here in Denmark - only when they try to escape ffrom Sweden:-0.

Very good and vivid colours, nice focus on the animals with nice details. Both animals are looking at you and therefore have your attention which is good. Though looking more at the picture I think that some of the background is without interest and also the little slope in front of the mother could make a very natural crop of in the bottom of the picture. Therefore I dared to make a ws - please forgive me but I could not help it.

Hello Catherine

This is a very well focused picture of these mating (almost)damselflies. Well focused with excellent details on the damselflies. A well blurred background to set them off. Colours look very natural and vivid. You did almost everything right and though I wish you had turned your camera just a little to the right so the space infront of the damselflies was larger that the space behind.

apart from that little nit it is indeed a very good picture.

Hello Peter

What a strange (funny) looking bird with all the colurs on the beak. great job you did here and followed with an informative note too. Clever handling of the light with - almost - no burn in the whith on the back of the bird. Colours look great and the focus if perfect with plenty of details in the plumage. I really like the metalic green on the back. Very nice composition with the bird out of center. Very nice too with the diagonal made by the shadow.

All over a very pleasant picture to look at - well done.

Hello Goutham

Very nice picture of this little - or should I say tiny - butterfly. Excellent focus with lots of details on the bf. Very vivid colours and a nice blurred background to set it off. I see you used a tripod and I see a lot of thhis kind of pictures from other photographers who also use a tripod. Well, I always wondered and still do - how on earth do you get the time to set up a tripod for these shots. I have tried it a lot of times and when the tripod is ok the bug is gone. So I always do it handheld down on my old knees.

I have been off and on to this picture several times and I like - no question but the more I look the more I feel to give a little advice - a personal matter of course. I know that the D80 takes pictures in 2:3 proportions and it looks like that is what you have cropped.Though I think if this is the uncropped picture you should have stepped back a little and then back home cropped it to 3:4 meaning cropped out some of the background in front of the bf and added a little below the bf you would have a better pov and also the diagonal would have made a stronger composition. Tjis is a personal thing of course and I do like the picture very much.

Anyway you did a great job on this.

Hello Ania

Welcome to the macro-world and what an entrance. this is a really nice macro shot with nnice dept of field and as I can see you must have been allmost down on your knees to get this point of view. The colours look great - first I thought that it was a fake of porcelain or plastic but then I read your note and found that it was real. The flash did a great job here and as you will find out it is a good thing when shooting macros.

Nice job

Hello my friend

I am very sorry to hear about your favorite lens going down. After all I have seen a lot of very nice shots from that lens. I really hope you will find a replacement soon - and a good one for long lasting this time.

Very nice butterfly picture with excellent focus and lots of details in the butterfly. The colours look very nice and naturalon my monitor. the background is well blurred and the bg-flower is not disturbing the main object but more like contributing with nice colours. Very clever handling of the light/contrast with a nice glow in the yellow and red colours.

Personally I would crop out about half of the top above the bf-wing and about the sam in the left to get the butterfly more in the 1/3 composition - but that is of course a personal matter.

All over a very nice picture to look at and you did a great job - again:-).
