(142) [2006-04-20 21:41:47] | It is a wonderful shot, everything is perfect. I was curious to see how my paint action would look, it makes it a lot bigger...24"x32" and about 7megs after flattening so I have included a crop of the full size so you can see the detail. If you'd like a copy on disc, let me know.

 Just for fun | AdrianW
(710) [2005-03-28 15:01:05] | Callie suggested that our Red Crested friend looked rather like a well known character from the cartoon world. So, may I introduce: DaffyPochard ;)
Selection using Lasso, Hue/Saturation work. |

Red Crested Pochard: Female | AdrianW
(710) [2005-03-23 16:46:02] | Just a quick snap of the female. The head is slightly out of focus since the bird was moving away from me a little quickly - unfortunately I only noticed after I'd returned home, and it was the only shot I had of the female... |

 UK Sympetrum identification | AdrianW
(710) [2004-10-11 19:16:29] | If you look at the face of this one (Sympetrum striolatum ♀) you'll see a black band across the face between two of the simple eyes. In this case the band doesn't extend much below the line - so we're looking at S. striolatum. If the band extends further down then you're looking at either Sympetrum vulgatum (almost all the way down the face) or Sympetrum nigrescens (halfway down the face).
As an aside I find the structure of the compound eyes fascinating - before I took this shot I'd never noticed that the tops of the compound eyes have larger lenses than those beneath! |

This is my first ever WS try! I cropped your image outside the image area. You do this by cropping the whole image, than drag the sides out to the size you want.
Use clone stamp to fill in blue Bg that was fromed.
Run levels and adjusted white, then Hue /saturation, then reduced to 700 wide, USM, and faded USM, changed to soft light too. Now he has some breathing space and he is also more white. Please let me know if you like it. |
