|Intro:||I’ve loved nature and photography since I was a kid many years ago. My main interest in this area are flowers in general, and wild orchids in particular. I had taken Kodachrome slides with SLR cameras for many years, until I “went digital” in 2003 with a Nikon CoolPix 5700. (Actually, I have used CCD cameras with electron microscopes since 1997). In September 2007 I purchased a Nikon D80 and a Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G lens. This should help me overcome some limitations I experienced with the CoolPix camera.|
Your comments are most welcome. Please point out to me interesting orchid pix you have taken.
Update, 27 April 2008
Since late November I’ve followed the flowering season in Israel, and posted images almost daily. The 2007-08 season has been strange: the rains were late to come, then we had a long dry cold spell, and not long after - a drought, followed by spells of dry, hot easterly wind (”Sharav”). Thus the actual season has been relatively short, and many species have not been at their best. Nevertheless, it has been fun “reporting” my “captures”. I have learnt a lot form watching our peoples’ pictures, and, in some cases from useful comments I’ve received. I have formed some excellent connections with a number of people, as enthusiastic about nature as I am. I thank them all!
I’ve found TN useful as a catalyst to go over my images and examine theme critically, and post some of them, thus creating my own collection (“gallery”). My only mild disappointment is that there are relatively few botany enthusiasts taking part in TN. However, I’m quite happy with the select and growing group I’ve interacted with.
