JeanMarie,

Wanted to bring the eyes to life, so created 2nd layer, highlighted entire layer, masked layer, Brush tool all of 2nd layer image to subdue the highlight except the areas that were shaded in original. This brought out the important feature of your image...the eyes. Then flattened layers into single image. Hope you find this technique useful in future images you might want to enhance.

I thought this was a very good image with nice eye contact with this cheetah on the move. It appears the light was a bit overcast in the original photo.

In PS5, I did a basic upwards contrast adjustment and a bit more vibrance.

Then made a layer selection of the eyes to slightly bring out their color using a little more brightness.

Using NIK Color Efex, I applied a graduated neutral density filter to soften the lower portion of the image making the grass a bit darker.

Then I applied a bit of sharpening using NIK Sharpener Pro 3.0 (which really just uses PS existing sharpening with different plug-in controls).

Finally, I liked the overall composition but just cropped it ever so slightly and rotated clock-wise to better fill the frame with JeanMarie's beautiful image.

I presented a crop for TN because all detailed are lost from the original (here) if not presented in HD. I like the original beter.

Facts on cormorant's food

The favorite prey of the cormorant is fish about 20 cm long (8 inches). They live only on fish. Those living by the sea may take crustaceans sometimes.
Fishs which escape typically have linear scares.
The effect of cormorant predation on wild fish and on fish farms are both subject to a lot of controversy. In 2009 we still need more scientific study in order to establish a clear outcome on the subject.

The wounds on the fish I shot are typical. I see 10. The fish was left by the cormorants just 1 foot away from the pound.
That fish was about 40 cm long (16 inches)
His large diameter protected him from beeing swallowed (And solved in acid. Instead his flesh was smatched. His anus was ripped away. He's been deprivated from water and frozen. Temperature was -14C -25F. What a life!)
The fish came out a small pound of warm water while the whole area was covered with ice. 30 cormorants are packed in there (They must have fighted for a long time for this fish till all of them knew it is too big to swallow).

I'm so bad in fish ID. Could someone help?

PP work :
little more contrast, flip vertical, rotate 3 degrees, crop 92%.

Thanks for looking
Jean-Marie

I did a workshop according to following steps by using PhotoShop CS.

(procedure)
1. Crop the top, right and bottom side a little
2. Use new layer for the gradiation and integrate with the original image
- color: None
