|Intro:||I retired a couple of years ago from public service after 32 years and wanted to explore the beauty of the nature and habitats around me with my camera.|
For a number of years I had been frustrated with neither the time or opportunities to spend the time taking photographs I wanted to, however that didn't change with retirement! and my camera has been mothballed for a couple of years whilst I travelled with a new job. That has now again changed so I hope to pick up the photography :)
I like photography because it lets you get close to a subject and to look properly at it, which I find is a great way to learn and really study what is around you. Too often I think we take a superficial glance at things and take them for granted. Previously I favoured close studies of birds and animals, but I want to get into plant and landscape photography as well and add macro studies of insects.
Please look at what I post, and be critical - what I like may not be what others like, and it is always good to get feedback about what a photograph really looks like as opposed to what I think it looks like.
Much of my photographic inspiration comes from the work of the American photographer Arthur Morris, who I think produces some lovely shots with a clean and out of focus background which I try to emulate.
I hope you enjoy looking, and I wish you enjoyment of your photography. Regards Phil
