Intro: | I am a retired biology teacher and author of an online daily devotional... sonrays.org I believe the "rules of photography" (whatever you make them to be) are to be used only as guidelines. Strictly following these rules are a limitation to creativity. Saying that... one of the "rules" of photography that I follow more closely than others is getting close to the subject... by that I do not necessarily mean physically close but image close as seen by the lens... eliminating all within the frame that does not enhance the main subject or theme of the photograph. My Christian faith strongly influences many of my photographs... it is simply how I see. :) "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." - C. S. Lewis “I want creation to penetrate you with so much admiration that wherever you go, the least plant may bring you the clear remembrance of the Creator. …One blade of grass or one speck of dust is enough to occupy your entire mind in beholding the art with which it has been made. … The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof." - St. Basil the Great Some of my favorite photographers of the past include Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Dorothea Lange and others as well as Frans Lanting (current). | |
