Apologies for my mini out-burst last night. It was over the top and quite spontaneous.
I'd never heard of 'harvesting points' before and was quite angry, mainly because I do not post images regularly, yet try and leave a couple of critiques everyday.
I obviously took this comment to heart.
As for TN, I'm very happy with the way it works. If I weren’t I would have left a long time ago.
TN 'learning more about the world through nature photography'.
I don't really understand why images need to be individually rated. We receive constructive feedback on our images which enable us to learn and better ourselves. Surely by also receiving a ratings score it's just going to highlight the photographers who already know how bloody good they are, and belittle those who probably aren't particularly good but would rather a boost of encouragement and advice instead of receiving a 0/10 rating.
There is another option. Why not have a best photograph of the week theme. That way you can express exactly how much you enjoyed a particular image without any rating system in place. It’s also something that could be set up now by any member, without TN being altered in any way.
Just another suggestion…
