While I was busy preparing my notes I actually thought of including the Grey-winged Francolin - Scleroptila africanus in my list as I had a look at its distribution map and thought its range was pretty close to the Park, but from my Kruger data base I couldn't find any reported sightings so I left it out of the list. However, I have a sneaky suspicion that you might be right. As I said, I wasn't even aware of the Shelley's Francolin - Scleroptila shelleyi prior to this encounter and looking at the Grey-winged Francolin it is clear that it looks pretty similar to the Shelley's Francolin. So, maybe due to confusion (or ignorance) it might have been spotted, but not been recorded. I am going to take a good look at all my photos of Francolins I have to see what I might have captured unkonwingly. Anyway, thanks for the interesting advice.
