Thanks Bill, its interesting to know you trek a lot and that too with your dog. I love dogs very much, i just don't have time to own one as i would hate to leave the dog at home when I'm at work. Besides the fact that you trek so much explains your screen name 'trekks' I guess.

Yes, Lonavala is one of the most picturesque hill stations in the state of Maharashtra in India. Since Maharashtra is situated on the Western Ghats there are tonnes of trekking and beautiful locations on the mountains which are in the range of 3000 ft ASL. Of course, these mountains are in total contrast to the Himalayas, which are very rocky and snow-capped. Here the slopes are lush green especially in the rainy season, and heavily forested. The Ghats (both Eastern and Western) in India have a different beauty and attraction points compared to the Himalayas.

You should plan treks in India too.
