He did eat it.
Eagle owls miss the sense of smell and because of that they can prey on and eat the polecat (maybe something similar here).
Kestrels are not supposed to like batracians. But we saw those from this nest eat a frog once.
Those kestrels here were fed 99% from sparrows, voles and wood mouse. Noticeable exceptions were a feral pigeon, a lizard, the frog, the shrew, a mole, a rat. No insect a far as we could see.
