I have to admit that my little Canon really works to make macros, certainly f/3.5, 2.5x zoom and use ISO 100, is a combination of parameters that facilitates making macros, but it is always necessary to bring a lot the objective lens to the insect (about 25 cmts minimum) ... So it's not that I'm so handy, I think the camera helps a lot!
With regard to the "hairy ball in the rear of the fly" ... I have no idea what it is!... but other specimens vewed yesterday, do not have this strange appendix!... very strange really!
