I usually try to be one of the first ones to arrive at the boardwalk up at Magee Marsh. I like to be there a little before sunrise as I find some birds, especially the ground dwellers seem to allow you to get fairly close. This may be due to the fact that there are not too many people on the boardwalk yet and it is still nice and quiet. It doesn't take long before the large crowds start to arrive which may keep them at a distance.
You don't see as many birds really early, but as soon as the sun starts to warm things up the insects start moving, which in turn brings out the birds in force.
