Thanks for stopping by and critiquing my shot. The 70-200mm f2.8L IS is an amazing lens. Great sharpness and colors at all settings. The IS is worth every penny extra that you pay over the non IS version. the 1.4 extender takes it to about 280mm and only degrades the optical quality slightly. This would be much better than cropping in to get a better composition. Cropping in to far really degrades the quality for a large print. I do not own the 2x extender, but everything I have read says it degrades optical quality much more than the 1.4 does. The 1.4 makes it an f4 lens while the 2x makes it a 5.6 So with the 2x you give up two stops of light. Have fun with your new present.
