Many thanks for your compliments. I'm glad you enjoyed my little deception.

I'm quite pleased to have found your gallery by way of this comment. We have a couple of things in common...

It is unusual for TN members to rely solely on compact ultrazoom cameras, but it appears that description fits you. My own approach is the same (see my intro), though I had years with film SLRs first. It seems that together we've covered the Canon UZ line so far- my middle of 3 UZ's was the S2 and now I have an S5. You have gotten some fantastic work out of your S3- I took a glance though your gallery and will clearly need to go back when I can spend more time. I have occasionally responded to comments from gear snobs on TN about these cameras being just "point & shoot", and it's nice to have another quality gallery of an UZ aficionado to point out.

One other thing we have in common is time in California- not much for me, but 3 years at UC Davis was enough for learning my way around the Bay Area. One place I never got to when living there was Ano Nuevo, which is another common thread. I was there for just a day last year on the way home from a business trip and got some good views of the molting seals, some of which were just posted on TN. Though not as numerous or dynamic as yours, you may find them interesting. Your shots convince me I have to make it back there for mating season sometime.

Hope to hear more from you.

Best regards,

United States
