Hmm... well, I didn't know that. Certainly, I guess, if it needs to be removed then remove it. :/ You live, you learn.
Still, is there any way of identifying it for certain? It may well be a Gazania as you say, but could be a sub-species or a flower that has not matured yet. I have certainly seen many shades of wild bluebell, for example.
Could it remain, at least until you are sure either way?
