You are right, species of tiger beetles from New Zeland (there are 14 species known till know - all endemic to this country) are differently coloured (I have some in my collection ;>). Species from your country belong to genus Neocicindela.
Moreover, there is no darkener species also in Europe.
Some similar in colour (or even totally black) are known from Africa (Mantica and Manticora), and N America (Omus and Amblycheila).
Anyway, it would be nice to see some of New Zeland species on the pictures ;>
