* Yellow-legged Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum)
* Range:
Found around all sorts of slow waters, usually more common near woodlands.
* Description:
Males are mostly red, lacking the black abdominal triangles of most of our other meadowhawks. Instead they have variable black markings laterally and dorsally on segments 8-10. Females are recognized by the prominent projecting subgenital plate. Contrary to the name, legs range from yellow to brown or even reddish.

Hello Kevin,
a very impressive and sharp close-up of the dragonfly face but also of the spiny fore- and midleg. Particularly, I like the presentation of the compound eyes and their surface structure.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Kevin,
Superb close macro of the head of a female Yellow-legged Dragonfly. The fine sharpness and detail seems to indicate a division in the type of facets in the compound eyes, the lower part having smaller facets, the difference probably allowing the dragonfly to detect movement better with one part of the compound eye while the other is more concerned with detail.
One cannot help but specilate when seeing such fine details.
Well done and TFS!

Good sharpness on the eyes, Kevin, I love those close-ups of dragons, also have some here. Thanks for yours, bye

Hi Kevin,
Wonderful details of these eyes!!! Sharpness and colours are simply perfect!

Hi Kevin

Great detail on that compound eye, amazing.
Great sharpness

Now that's what I consider masterpiece of a macro of a dragonfly's eyes, Kevin. Each small segment of the compound eyes is crystal clear; so are the hair on the face.
This is truly amazing nature photography for which you deserve all the praise in the world.
Thanks and take care.
