Eublepharis angramainyu Anderson et Leviton, 1966 - Leopar Keler [TR], Leopard Gecko or Iraqi Eyelid Gecko [EN] has not known in Turkiye up to field trip of Dr. Bayram Göçmen and his group from Ege University in 2001. They published the first record of this species by a scientific paper in 2002. After that many specimens have been found in same are by B. Göçmen and his assistants. This gecko on the photograph is one of them.
There are more than 60 lizard species in Turkiye. Seven of them belong to the family Gekkonidae;
** Cyrtopodion heterocercus Blanford, 1874 - Mardin Keleri (no common name),
** Cyrtopodion kotschyi (Steindachner, 1870) - İnceparmaklı Keler (Kotschy's Gecko),
** Cyrtopodion scaber (Heyden, 1827) - Karinalı Keler (Roughtail Gecko),
** Hemidactylus turcicus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Genişparmaklı Keler (Mediterranean House Gecko, Turkish Gecko),
** Asaccus elisae (F. Werner, 1895) - Yaprakparmaklı Keler (Werner's Leaf-toed Gecko),
** Eublepharis angramainyu Anderson et Leviton, 1966 - Leopar Keler (Leopard Gecko, Iraqi Eyelid Gecko),
** Stenodactylus grandiceps Haas, 1952 - Tombul Keler (Jordan Short-fingered Gecko).

This shot is dedicated to my close friend Dr. Bayram Göçmen (boreocypriensis) and many thanks him for permission.

Dr yüklediğin en güzel türlerden birisi sanırım bu oldu. En az bilinen sürüngen türlerimizden birisini çok güzel görüntülemişsin. Eline sağlık.

Merhaba Ahmet,
I congratulate you for this shot and the idea to share it together with the detailed note with TN. The head is a little overexposed but the details remain sharp and all possible details for ID can be found . I did'nt know that there are 7 species of Gekkonidae in Turkey. So interesting, please show more of yourr pictures!
Best regards

Hi Ahmet!
I never knew Leopard Gecko's were in Turkey!
I was going to buy one as a pet a couple of years ago so I should have known really!
Great composition using the Rule of Thirds well.
Nice colours, lighting and exposure.
Well done,

Hi Ahmet

I am a big fan of reptiles in general and especially have a soft spot for geckos, so this shot attracted my attention immadiately :)
A very well taken one, this photo presents this wonderful species with excellent details and from a very good low POV.
The colors and patterns on its head and body are remarkable and stand out well, but proabably even more interesting is his magnificent eye.
Perhaps a bit too bright on the flash, but other than that it's a wonderful shot!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Ahmet,
This is a magnificent looking gecko, quite unlike any I have seen before.
I was wondering if this was a nocturnal or diurnal species.
Most of the gecko we had in the Cook Islands were nocturnal, but our New Zealand species tend to bask in the sun.
A great shot anyway.
