[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
An almost-complete picture of a red-tail hawk seen on Wolfe Island. We saw it on the ground and thought it had captured prey, but when it took off, no sign of any prey was seen.

Wolfe Island has abundant birds of prey and this red-tail was one of many seen that day.

Lissa,

I agree ... very hard to capture well. I have areas here in Calif. where there are large populations of Red Tails, so I see them frequently, and capture them rarely. It looks as though you had a rather large crop on this one. Good effort.

Hello Lissa,
This must have been an incredible moment to live...! What a nice shot. I like the fact that the bird is not completely in the frame, this makes an original composition. You chose a good shutter speed, captured nice details and exposure. Well done and congrats on a great action shot!

About 20 more pixels and you would have had the whole bird. better luck next time. I have always found in-flight photos difficult. What you got though turned out very nice.

Hello Lissa

Very nice in flight capture of this nice bird. Well focused with lot of details in the bird and the background is well blurred. Actually one just expect the bird to set foot on the ground any second when looking at the picture.

Well done
Mogens

Hello Lissa, Such is inflight photography Lissa, this image is great as is, great natural colors and setting. The focus is just a tad soft but not enough to detract from the amazing pose you have capture, great job Lissa.
