[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This caterpillar (pupate) is adorned with fleshy spines along their backs which are covered in a waxy white substance.

After reaching a length of about 115mm (4.5 inches) the caterpillar within the papery cocoon intertwine into desiccated leaves.

The adult Atlas Moth "Mariposa" emerge after about 4 weeks.

Special thanks to Joe Pan and Greg (pertu) for the I.D. of this dangerous pupate.

I have plenty of this kind plus the cocoons in my Santol Tree. I captured the Atlas Moth posted on my first picture here in TN.

I took this picture, 2hours ago.

Thanks for your time and words,
Dennis

Hallo Dennis
Once again a most delightful and colourful image. The image is sharp and reflect great detail and focus. I think this image deserves each smiley still to be awarded. The markings, patterns and texture on the body are impressive. Your framework is splendidly done and your display is excellently handled. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

I have seen one of these giant caterpillars and a few of the moths at our local Butterfly Zoo. They are very big.
Good shot of the caterpillar Dennis. How exciting to see it like this, and what pretty colours and patterns it has.
Very good capture
Well done
Janice

Excellent shot Dennis,
Very sharp and detailed image with beautiful colors. Love the composition and exposure you achieved in this fine photo.
I learned a lesson this past November while in Brazil on a mission trip. I touched a caterpillar while photographing it and was stung on my left thumb. It burned for about two hours and I just barely touched it. I have a photo of it in my gallery if you care to view it.
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful photo with us.
Ron
