[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Robin has not been around so much in the garden because it has been getting its new feathers ready for next winter. As you can see it looks a little untidy this will soon go away. So i was pleased to get this picture .

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula ) Length 14cm.
The Robin is one of the most familiar and popular garden Birds of all. The Robin is an aggressive species with the males sometimes fighting to the death to defend their territory.
The male and female are almost identical with brown crown, wings, upperparts and tail, a grey band along the sides of the breast, white belly and the famous red breast which is actually a deep orange colour. Juvenile Birds can cause confusion as they lack red in their plumage, being a rather dull spotty brown in colour.
Robins sing all year round, defending summer and winter territories with their fluty melodic song.
The Robin can be found in almost every garden as it is one of the tamest Birds, happily feeding alongside humans as they work. They will often take live food such as Earthworms or Mealworms from the hand.
Breeds from March to August building a cup shaped nest from grass and leaves lined with hair. Lays 4-6 pale blue-white eggs lightly spotted with red and incubates for 13-15 days. The young fledge after 12-14 days. They often have two broods

Hi Nick,
Very pretty Robin! Like he is alive on the screen... Details are really fantastic. We can see, feel some little wind in the feathers. Do you see many differences with similar shots taken with your former Canon body? I'm very interested by this camera... Good evening,
Catherine

Hello Nicholas,
Nicholas birds are back! ... And we are in TN happy to see them! ... Good POV, light is perfectly balanced, and natural colors extremely naturals. You have allowed a BG solid enough, to make us feel the environment.

Hi Nick,

It's so nice to see one of your Robins again! It's interesting to see it looking not as glamorous - but it's only temporary. Your usual excellent pose, colors, details and setting.

Ciao Nicholas. Focus is perfect so like the natural bright colours. Great capture.

Roberto

Hi Nick,

Wonderful picture again. Thanks for that note as I didn't realise that's why there seemed to be less robins during the summer months.
The detail is, as always, fantastic and the colours are nice and bright, you must have been having some nice days down there, rain up here :(.
Good DOF keeping all of the robin in focus and still blurring the background a bit.
Great capture and TFS

Sion

Hello Nicholas,
This is a very well taken portrait of this robin. I like very much the clear and sharp details got on the bird's plumage, the catchlight, eye contact and the pose. Well done!
