Here in the US, we still call these bumble bees... heavy and slow moving some have questioned the aerodynamics of such an insect, but it works and that's all that counts

It has been 5 days since it was warm enough for me to get out and take images on my electric wheelchair. This was my last outing and I got pretty lucky as I could maneuver my chair over the dirt ground and get in pretty close. I am not in possession of a high priced macro so this Sigma on my DSLR Pentax will have to do.... I shan't bore you with bumble bee details....most of you know....

Hi Bob,

The flowers are helping to frame teh insect. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the bumble bee. The good luminosaity is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Hello Bob,
Great to see you're still active with the camera but take care! This Bumble bee looks beautiful as it is collection nectar from the lilac flowers. Great details and a fine composition.
TFS and all the best wishes, Ulla

Hello Bob,
It's great to see you are still getting some really neat shots like this well detailed Bumble Bee. Love the attractive composition and beautiful colors. Your Sigma 70-300 did a great job for you in this particular instance.
I can vividly remember being stung near my eye, by one of these guys when I was about three years old. My brother and I were teasing their nest with a lit cigarette we found, and they didn't like it one bit. A whole bunch of them came flying out of the entrance hole and followed us (even though we were running as fast as our little legs would carry us) and one stung me in the eye and my brother on the head. This memory I will never forget, as I still recall it whenever I see a Bumble Bee.
