|On the way to Lekit (Azerbaijan)|
I found this Longhorn beetle (Purpuricenus budensis) (Goetze); Cerambycidae) on the way up to the village of Lekit. Not only are there surprising ruins of the 6th century Mǝbǝd monastery but there was also this gentle farmer who offered me Çai and sweets despite Ramadan.
There are many species of Purpuricenus in the Palaearctic region, they are essentially found around the Mediterranean basin and in Iran, one species in Southern Siberia, another in China. Since there is much local variability of black color on the back the species- race question is difficult to solve. All Purpuricenus larvae grow in small branches of bushes and a circular welling in the branch is a sign of their presence.

You have made an interesting trip to an interesting country. We don't know much about this country. So I hope you show us a lot of pictures of Azerbaijan.
This macro is excellent in sharpness, composition and in beautiful colours.
