[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I had my lens focused on the Monarch perched on the flower when another Monarch decided it wanted it's picture taken too.

This particular day I was actually trying to capture a butterfly while inflight. I had the shutter speed set pretty fast and took a burst of shots just as the butterflies would leave a flower.

You had to guess when the butterfly was going to lift off it's perch, start clicking the shutter and hope for the best.

On this particular shot the movement of the second butterfly coming into view startled me into prematurely clicking the shutter. Needless to say I was pleased with the unexpected result:)

Hello Ron,
Marvelous macro, colorful butterflies. Good details, vivid colors, POV, sharpness, composition, and cross framing are very well. Well done.Sigi

A providential magic moment which you captured with well timed reflex action, Ron. Lucky man! What an absolutely stunning capture of two Monarchs -- one on a flower and the other 'passing by', to use your phrase!!

ciao, tino

Hi Ron,
Extraordinary picture, the color contrast is gorgeous, and the shutter speed was just perfect. Composition-wise it's second to none also, and the depth is fantastic - but what I like the most is the soft lights. Magic and artistic image. Bravo!
Seasonal greetings, kind regards, László
