For Luc - the road ahead

It is good to see you popping back, even for a moment. : )
It gives me hope that people who leave do not leave forever.
It makes me feel that those of you who inspired us and mentored us do look in once in a while, to see how far we have come in our journey.
This evocative photo is a fitting tribute to our friend Luc. He is a giant among us, for all that he has contributed to TN as a community, and to each of us as individuals. The grand vistas that you have captured in the background remind us that Life is a big place, even for a giant.
Who are we to dare hold back those who are blessed with true visions?
The warm and soft colors in this image will remind us of Luc's big heart, and the lone elephant forging ahead... Well, that is just like Luc wrapped in his deep thoughts. ; )
I notice that the elephant is coming toward us, not walking away. : )
Thank you, Callie, for this beautiful and symbolic shot. ; )

it's a great tribute to Luc, I.m sure he will be very happy for this on. But it's sad that almost all my old friend are leaving.
The colours and compostion anre lovely.
BTW, gift from you wife? I remember the old days, " How do I pass my wife with the new lens" ;-))))
Take care, my friend.

Beautifull, touching picture for our old friend. Yes, old times gone forever, but new challanges are near. I hope Luc or you, Callie will sometimes send new picture or few words to TN.
Nice to hear from you my friend and congratulations - new lens is perfect, I'm sure :-)

Hierdie is 'n mooi foto. Ek hou baie van die komposisie, met die pad wat so afloop na die olifant. Vergewe my asb vir die kritiek, maar die foto lyk vir my bietjie rooi. Nogtans baie goed gedaan.

Hey Callie, a beautiful tribute for Luc. And maybe, like this elephant, he, like you, will look back at us now and then, and remember us.
There are times and seasons for us all:
"There is a time for everything,
... a time to plant and a time to uproot,
... a time to search and a time to give way...
... a time to mourn and a time to dance...
Thank you and kia ora,

I know Luc for one month now, and he was the one who let me know about TN. I just regret to not have my pictures criticized by him after reading all those good words for him. He was very appreciated by a lot of people on TN and your wonderful post is a reflection of that. About your picture: Superb shot of this lonely elephant going that long long way! We can feel the intense heat of that day (am I wrong ?). Excellent composition, colors and dof! Very well done!!!

The picture is a truly beautiful farewell gift for Luc. I hope he will stay in touch with TN like many of others who decided to leave it do. It's always good to see you popping back, even just for a moment.
The picture has an exceptional mood. I love the space here, the warm colours and first of all, the POV making the Road a part of the picture equal with the elephant.
The picture calls to my mind another thing Bilbo used to say:
"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door.(...)You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to".
I find it true everyday! :-)

Wow Callie, such a "glowing" tribute to our friend Luc, the red glow reminds me of all his fox photographs. I have to echo Manyee's comments, I hope we will see him pop in every once in awhile, along with you too. You just must show what you can do with that new gift from your wife don't you?
I love the frame and the road where you can't see what's on the other side just yet, you must travel there to find out for yourself, and those of us will miss, and shed a tear for the goodbye nonetheless. TFS this lovely photo.

Such a nice tribute to Luc.
A lone elephant on a lone road, a great shot. I love the colour of the road, a nice contrast to the elephant. Janice

Great to see you again old friend.
This is a cool shot, lovely warm colours, a perfectly positioned elephant and that unique angle you seem to get on just about every shot you post.
As for Luc, I think he fell into the addiction trap. I visit 2-3 nights a week, make a couple of posts and see what gems there are in the world. That way I get the best of TN and still have time for my lover....oh and the kids, dog etc.
Hope you find more time in the future to keep dropping in.

What can I say...
I know I am late, Callie. I cannot excuse myself... but...
I am too happy to play outside. Nature is my mistress. I fall in love with Her. Her summer is short, so short... I cannot be inaccurate for Her. Even Her rain and Her storms cannot prevent me from playing with Her. She is a magnificent Illusion, the big one I have to uncover. She does not want it, it is in Her nature.
Your golden elephant comes towards me...
I dreamed of lions recently. Not easy to tame these animals. Our fears kills us better than time. I saw LOTR four times: "What really counts it is what we do of the time which is assigned to us".
Your wife knows you, lucky grandfather.
I owe you a couple of email and so many to my faithful friends on TN. I lived a rebirth here. Thank you to have attended the childbirth.
So many feelings in my heart.
So many words in my head.
Fortunately that I found a refuge made of silence and softness. It is the soul which has us and not we who have one. Any elephant that you will meet on your road will say it to you.
I met mine in your photograph, dear friend.
