[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I found these anemone growing on the shores of the salt lake whilst looking for flamingos. The flamingos were too far away for a decent photograph, but I found a number of spring flowers. Apart from being able to identify these as anemones I am unable to identify them further. These are Anemone coronaria - thanks to Bayram for the id.

Anemone are perennial herbs, growing from rhizomes, caudices, or tubers. Species have basal leaves with long petiole stems that can be upright or prostate, the foliage is simple or compound with lobed, parted, or undivided leaf blades. The leaf margins are entire or toothed. The flowers are produced in terminal inflorescences with involucres, and they can be arranged in two-to-nine-flowered cymes or in umbels, or be solitary. They have involucral bracts that can be leaf-like and/or petal-like. The flowers are bisexual and are radially symmetrical with 10 to 200 stamens. The flowers have nectaries, and many simple pistils, but petals are missing in the majority of species. The pistils have one ovule. The 4 to 27 sepals can be white, purple, blue, green, yellow, pink, or red and wither away during fruit growth. The fruits are ovoid to odovoid shaped achenes that are collected together in a tight cluster, ending variously lengthened stalks; though many species have sessile clusters terminating the stems. The achenes are beaked and some species have feathery hairs attached to them.

Hi Bro James:)

As i seen you visited my homeland, even the place where i was born (Kantou, near Episcopi). This was a spring wind from my homeland indeed:) A beautiful pair of Anemone coronaria (Poppy anemone or Crown anemone)taken from wonderful vantage point with excellent exposure!
Thanks for sharing these beauties MF!
Have a nice night!
Cheers,

Bayram

Hi James

Hello James,
How are you?
Very educative contribution and a nice pic. Good to know there are flamingoes in Cyprus.:-) Or flamingos, dear spelling checker. Sorry, the spelling checker underscored 'flamingoes';-).
It's always a kind of frustrating when the animals are too far and you cannot get closer.
Maybe it's a good you actually couldn't identify them further as right now a dictionary might already be a necessity.
Overall I think the Great Goddes Aphrodite shall not be displeased. Well done and TFS.
Annick

Beautiful spring Anemones from Cyprus, James.
There is something special about spring flowers. They symbolise faith in the goodness of life.
It is good to see a different kind of picture from you.
Best regards.
Ram

Hello James,
it's funny to read your note, I did the same experience during the 2 months I spent in Larnaca this winter.
The flamingos always to far away, not even 600mm could get a decent shot. But I find the Salt Lake Park was a a very nice place, I found lots of flower, like anemones and orchids.
The picture is sharp with fine details and also well exposed with nice natural colours.

Regards
Gert

Hi James.
Wonderful presentation of the charming flowers. I am impressed with exactness and beautifulness of reproduction of the petals and other features of the flowers. Precise white balance, colour and texture reproduction. Smooth BG is also impressive and underlines the beauty of the main subject. TFS and best wishes.

Hallo James
A lovely image with both warm and inviting as well as soft colours. The details of the anthers of the flower are seen with great clarity, and I like the blurred stems of flowers in the background very much. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards.

Hello James,
Very fine-colored Anemones coronariae from Limassol. They have a very fine color, a little bit different from the ones we see around here. The one of the right looks like a little sun! Funny to follow you around the world :-)
Kind regards

A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Hi James,
Beautiful pair of anemones, one of my favorite garden plants (this species is often planted here in the middle of Europe). Great sharpness, details and POV, the only thing I don't fully like is an oof stalk on the left. Otherwise a pretty and elegant shot, congrats and tfs.
Best regards from Hungary, László
