I seem to be posting about one picture a week at the moment it will be like this for a while to come.
I was surprised to see this Robins tongue out on one side. It was as if it was licking its lips after some food.

Hope you are all well Nick..

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula ) Length 14cm.
The Robin is one of the most familiar and popular garden Birds of all. The Robin is an aggressive species with the males sometimes fighting to the death to defend their territory.
The male and female are almost identical with brown crown, wings, upperparts and tail, a grey band along the sides of the breast, white belly and the famous red breast which is actually a deep orange colour. Juvenile Birds can cause confusion as they lack red in their plumage, being a rather dull spotty brown in colour.
Robins sing all year round, defending summer and winter territories with their fluty melodic song.
The Robin can be found in almost every garden as it is one of the tamest Birds, happily feeding alongside humans as they work. They will often take live food such as Earthworms or Mealworms from the hand.
Breeds from March to August building a cup shaped nest from grass and leaves lined with hair. Lays 4-6 pale blue-white eggs lightly spotted with red and incubates for 13-15 days. The young fledge after 12-14 days. They often have two broods

Hi Nick,
It's great to "just catch" Your weekly upload. :) I also don't upload every day, in order to be able to handle my critiques. Nice to look at You have fresh bird photos and spring already rules in England, too. Beautiful shot, great sharpness and colors - background is a bit busy though. In spite of this minor problem a photo to be proud of. Congrats and tfs.
Have a nice weekend, friendly regards, László

Hi Nick,

Hi Nick,

There are lots of adorable pictures of Robins on TN but it's hard to beat this one with him licking his lips. What a cute little tongue. Colors are wonderful and he looks so great on the bush with the big green leaves.

Hello Nicholas,
A very unusual pose, I don't know of ever seeing a bird with it's tongue stuck out like that before. Your right, it does seem to be licking it's lips after a satisfying meal. Great detail, color and exposure!! TFS.
