I am sorry to say its another Robin . I just have not been out taking pictures now for a few weeks so this was taken in the garden yesterday.

Hope you are all well. Nick.

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula ) Length 14cm.
The Robin is one of the most familiar and popular garden Birds of all. The Robin is an aggressive species with the males sometimes fighting to the death to defend their territory.
The male and female are almost identical with brown crown, wings, upperparts and tail, a grey band along the sides of the breast, white belly and the famous red breast which is actually a deep orange colour. Juvenile Birds can cause confusion as they lack red in their plumage, being a rather dull spotty brown in colour.
Robins sing all year round, defending summer and winter territories with their fluty melodic song.
The Robin can be found in almost every garden as it is one of the tamest Birds, happily feeding alongside humans as they work. They will often take live food such as Earthworms or Mealworms from the hand.
Breeds from March to August building a cup shaped nest from grass and leaves lined with hair. Lays 4-6 pale blue-white eggs lightly spotted with red and incubates for 13-15 days. The young fledge after 12-14 days. They often have two broods

Hi Nick.
I think the combination of Canon 7D and 400 mm prime lens is the best. I like how well it work in your hands. Wonderful 3D-image of a very cute robin. Fantastic isolation from absolutely smooth and nice BG. Details and sharpness of the bird and branch images are simply great. Bravo. Perfect job.
Alexei.

Beautiful, Nick! I have to agree with Alexei that the 7D and the 400 lens make for a very impressive combination. Great POV, nicely positioned within the frame, and, of course, spot-on DOF.

Regards,
Jim

Hello Nicholas,
It may be just another Robin to some, but it is a creature of beauty to me. I always marvel when I view these dainty little birds. They seem to be a miniature version of our American Robin.
I love their soft colors and delicate features. I hope to someday be able to view one in the wild such as this. A top quality photo in every aspect!!!

Hi Nick,

I'm so jealous! There are no Robins in Tucson - not even American Robins. So I am always happy when you post one of these beauties. Once again - picture perfect. I love the perky pose, the bright colors and the fantastic details. Lovely background and amazing composition.

Jane
