[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is 'George', we found him the day before this image was taken in a park in central Helsinki. It was on the grass and very hungry - hungry enough to eat an apple.... we simply could not leave it there to die.

He is now staying with us (in the garden) with a healthy appetite and growing fast.
Any tips on how to bring him up to be an independent (and respectful) adult are very welcome.

We believe it to be a Herring Gull, Larus argentatus.
It is a large gull which breeds across North America, Europe and Asia. Some herring gulls, especially those resident in colder areas, migrate further south in winter, but many are permanent residents.

They live up to 32(!!) years old...

That is so sweet, the young seagulls are obviously nicer looking than the parents. Great POV and nice sharp details

Hi Shir,
What an excellent capture of this little Seagull!
I like so much the focus got of the head, and how you managed the DOF to get everything else so nicely blurred. Even the short hairs of the bird, -in a radial position-, creates an effect almost like motion blur.
You've got a high quality image.
I'm sorry I cant help with any tips to bring him back wild.
My compliments for the pic and thanks for share it.
Best regards,
JM

Such sharp details on this cute little chick, Shir.
I have never seen a seagull chick before.
I did not know they had spots.
Great focus and exposure.

Hi Shir, if you ever need some babysitter... cuteness factor is right there. Great shot, hope you can still manage after this shot. TFS Reina
