Another shot from my trip to the Tramuntana mountains in northern Mallorca.

This one was taken on a fantastic walk up the "Barranc de Biniaraix" which is an old cobbled path that has been used for centuries as a pilgrim route up to a monastery at the top of the ridge. It climbs up to the Col at 915m - and then we climbed up to the top of Es Cornadors - the mountain peak on this photo - about the same height as Scafell Pike for those who know it.

I would highly recommend this walk - the barranc is a steep-sided and beautiful valley winding up through stunning scenery. Make sure you pick a good day though - the weather had turned when we got to the top and the winds were so strong we decided not to carry on along the ridge for fear of being blown off!!

Anyway - the photo - appealed to me quite simply because of the lovely view and colours of the sky and mountain. Made trickier due to the high contrast in the shot - I wanted to retain some detail in the shadow area so tried to meter from both the shadows and highlights and bracketed a couple of average readings in the middle - this one seemed the best compromise.

Post-processing comprised a slight curves tweaks to try bring a touch more into the shadows, and a slight contrast tweak - then usual resize and border.

Thanks for looking - hope you like it!

Nice place. I like landscapes with mountains. And I hope I could see Mallorca (I planned go where few times, but always couldn't go because of something).
Good color and detail.

Hi Doug

Lovely landscape - well thought out composition with nice detail.

James

Hey Doug.
Very lovely. The thumbnail certainly didn't do the pic justice. It's a really interesting and dramatic location. What I like about this shot is that you can let your eye 'walk' through it. Up that hill on the left and down through the gorge, as if you were there. Very nice. Good light too. Well done.
Regards, Steve
