[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We have a sort of palm tree in our garden. Yesterday I saw that it was full of these little moths. They seem to be upside down while sitting. This might be a technique to fool predators. They go for what they think is the head of the moth and only get a mouth full of wing.

I don't know what kind of moth this is. Any ideas? It's very small. Aprox 12mm from head to tail.

Hi Jannie,
You made a very interesting photo here. Good work of the diagonals from the palm tree leaf. The moth looks strange and it is well placed in composition.
I thing you maybe oversharpened a bit.

Regards, Petru

Good capture with lovely colors. DOF a bit shallow, but still a very good photo. Wonderful moth and very nice background.
Well done and thanks for sharing.

Sorry Jannie can't help with the name, but love the unusual pose of this moth. Good detail and strong colours. TFS.
Dean.

We have these in the northwest too -- very common, but so small and unobtrusive most people never notice them hiding in the grass. The image looks a bit oversharpened, but a nice catch.
