This was a very quick photo taken from a precarious roadside position. These are the Sasso Lingo and Sasso Piatto mountains in the Dolomite. The light wasn't great but I wanted this photo as on a previous trip I had hiked between these mountains. The Dolomites always impress.

Wikipedia has this to say on the Dolomites:
The Dolomites (Italian: Dolomiti; German: Dolomiten) are a section of the Alps. They are located in equal parts in the provinces of South Tyrol, Belluno and Trentino (all in northern Italy) and extend from the Adige river in the west to the Pieve valley (Pieve di Cadore) in the east. The northern and southern borders are defined by the Pustertal (valley of the Rienz) and the Valsugana.

The region is commonly divided into the Western and Eastern Dolomites, separated by a line following the Val Badia - Campolongo pass - Cordevole valley (Agordino) axis. The range includes more than forty glaciers.

The name "Dolomites" is derived from the famous French mineralogist Déodat Gratet de Dolomieu (1750 -1801) who was the first to describe the rock, Dolomite, a form of limestone which is responsible for the characteristic shapes of these great mountains.

Hi Karan,
Quick but perfect. Sometimes there is no need for taking a long time to get the right POV and the best composition. I like the soft lighting in this photo, it gave you soft shades and beautiful colors. I love the fact that some clouds are touching the peaks.

Hi Karan, looks like you had a good holiday. I like the shot. The clouds licking around the peaks looks great. Hard one to expose but I think you did a good job here, good composition too.

A beautiful, but rugged landscape Karan. The clouds that hug the mountains and a nice effect and interest. The trees in the foreground show how large the peaks really are. Just gorgeous.

Very nice picture!
I like the steep, rocky mountainsides!
I think the light on the rock is great and even more pronounced with the bright blue sky. It almost looks like a painting, very well composed.

Very dramatic photo! Very sharp and lots of detail, I feel as though I'd cut myself on the rocks if I were to touch them.
I've been to Lake Garda once and I'd love to go back there.
Thanks for the memories :)
Andy
