This is the eye of a female elk. It was taken at the Busse Woods Forest Preserve in Elk Grove, Illinois. The elk are kept in the forest preserve with a fence. So I guess they are semi-wild. They are pretty tame so you can get close shots like this. They have such big beautiful eyes.
