Well yet another shot of our ever changing Lake Erie. The lake had started to freeze over with all the cold winter air. Ice in our bay was about 6" thick. But a storm front came in from the south bringing warm air and clashing with the cold air already in place here. The winds fought and I'm not sure who won but it was wild for sure! Winds up and over 50Knots waves on the lake were up to 18 feet. It lasted for a 36 hours this is what we woke up to the next day. Piles of ice on the shores. There was some flooding in low lieing areas as the lake level on the west end where we live rose about 6 feet or more.

Hope you all are safe and well!

Hi Donna..fantastic work,incredible light and wonderfull landscape,thanks for share,Luciano

Hi Donna,
What an impressive image!
It's like a set for a movie or something related, the greys and almost silver tones adds a certain mood of dramatism here.
Can imagine the cold that must be there.
It's very good the trees at the right and the sun rays filtered at the top.
I like a lot the picture and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

hello donna,
what a lovely shot, very beautiful scenery, the sunrays looks so beautiful, nice management of exposure, well composed shot,
tfs & regards

Hi Donna,

The amount of ice piled up on the shore is impressive, the point of view is showing it in details. The storm was kind of scary. In my region, a snow storm left around 25cm of snow on the ground. Nature is very powerful. Have a nice day.

Wow...does that bring back memories...the ice on Lake Erie and be very dangerous...specialy for ice fisherman. I used to cover and do breaking news on those many many years ago...there was once a time when cars were allowed out on the ice...back in the 1930's -early 50's...I will come back tomorrow and give you more..I am good on my promise...

Moody image of a great scenery, Donna! Very well composed and captured! Bravo! Cheers, Klaus

Hello Donna,
Beautifully done composition with much atmosphere. The lake looks angry, and very cold but the suns rays give hope. You must be glad your husband is home. Thank you for this superbly done image.

Hi Donna,
I will be back.

Hello Donna,
Amazing to see ice breaking up in the middle of winter!
It happened here too a couple of years ago, in January that normally should happen in March...
Fine details have been captured, a well composed presentation with awesome light!

Hello Donna,
again a famous artistic shot, realy well composed with a wonderfull lighting,
excellent post
cheer and TFS

Hello Donna a truely amazing shot the light/rays add a lot to the spectacular ice-scape. The wide distortion on the horizon curves it giving a sense of earth curvature. tfs rgds Necip.

Hi Donna.
You have pictured a very nice moment of nature state. Amazing ice cover as well as the sun rays and stormy cloudy sky. Excellent composition of the scene and selection of POV. Grey colour palette is very impressive. My compliments and best regards.

Hi Donna,
beautiful landscape photo, I really like the light captured and the reflection on ice!
nice POV and composition!
Great work!
Dejan :)

Hi Donna,
The light in this photo is breathtaking. It gives a kind of warm feeling to this very cold scenery. The jagged texture of the ice pans show the force of the wind perfectly and also reflects the sun wonderfully. I love the moody sky and the great composition.

Hello Donna,
I had to look closely to see that this is a color shot. The lighting is fantastic both through the clouds and the reflection on the broken ice on Lake Erie in this excellent composition. The lens has caused a slight curvature on the horizon, but I think that's no disadvantage here.
Thanks for sharing this striking image,

Hi Donna,
Tellement impressionnant comme paysage, magnifique ,quelle composition et ces couleurs font ressortir l'atmosphère de cette photo, j'adore.

Hi Donna! I was hoping that you took a shot at the ice in last week's storm--and I wasn't disappointed! Wasn't that something? A friend sent some pix to me from Port Colborne showing the extent of the ice floes. Wonderful shot of the sun and sky, just chills me to look at it! Well done! Linda

Hi Donna ,
Very nice scenery.
great composition and good contrast.
well done
