This is a view on the Geirangefjord taken from a 1500 meter high point called Dalsnibba. I think that this photo represents Norway as one would expect it.

Some information taken from the UNESCO World Heritage site:

Situated in south-western Norway, north-east of Bergen, Geirangerfjord and Nryfjord, set 120 km from one another, are part of the west Norwegian fjord landscape, which stretches from Stavanger in the south to Andalsnes, 500 km to the north-east. The two fjords, among the worlds longest and deepest, are considered as archetypical fjord landscapes and among the most scenically outstanding anywhere. Their exceptional natural beauty is derived from their narrow and steep-sided crystalline rock walls that rise up to 1,400 m from the Norwegian Sea and extend 500 m below sea level. The sheer walls of the fjords have numerous waterfalls while free-flowing rivers cross their deciduous and coniferous forests to glacial lakes, glaciers and rugged mountains. The landscape features a range of supporting natural phenomena, both terrestrial and marine, such as submarine moraines and marine mammals.

Both the Geirangerfjord and Nryfjord were inscripted into the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2005.

Hi Niek!

Last year, we probably were very close to this place... Therefore it's a great pleasure to discover this picture. The atmosphere is actually typical for the Norwegian circumstances and your picture reflects the beauty of that Fjord very well. It's a classical, yet very pleasant landscape picture.

Kind regards

Markus

Neik,

Nice view. Looks like Norway. And South central Alaska. A little hazy in the distance.

tfs,
Scott

Hi Niek

Yep...this does represent Norway :)
A splendid view from up here and a gorgeous presentation of the land!
The perspective from up there is just as how one would expect it but the picture you took is full of little surprises. Just to name a couple - i really like the interesting rock stacks in the FG and the winding road that goes up the farther cliff. Needless to say that the peaks of the mountains look terrific!
Very beautiful work, my friend.

This looks like a fairly precarious perch for a Dutch boy of the flatlands! It is quite a stunning vista reminiscent of the fjords of Canada's west coast. It might have been fun to take about three vertical shots and stitched them together. I am trying to remind myself to do that more. Sometimes after I am home I wish I had included more to the left or right and then I have the material to work with. You managed good depth of focus despite the haze. I'm using my laptop so it is hard to say much about saturation etc. It's fun to follow the road into the mountains... like in a Chinese mountain landscape painting.

Hello Niek,
Fantastic POV looking down into this beautiful Fjord. I like the winding road illustrating how steep the sides are. Nice light across the tops and I like the heaps of stones in the foreground adding depth to the view. Very nice indeed!

Hi Niek,
almost missed this one. Very well chosen POV indeed, using the raod and the cairns in the FG to create both depth and height. Good details everywhere and excellent colour reperoduction. well done!
