Wood anemone - Anemone nemorosa

This was captured on the beautiful island of Oland where the forest floor has in many places been absolutely covered with white, yellow and blue spring flowers over the last few weeks.

The Wood anemone is an early-spring flowering plant in the genus Anemone in the family Ranunculaceae, native to Europe. Common names include windflower, thimbleweed and smell fox, an allusion to the musky smell of the leaves. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, growing in early spring from 5 to 15 cm tall.

Hello Ulla,
Impressive this sea of Wood anemones. I never have seen so many at the same place. You have chosen an ideal "overview" point of view giving so well the impression of "flower-carpet" to the beholder. Original and well presented nature-picture.
Have a nice Sunday

Wonderful! Very effective use of the short focal length. Great colors and fine details.

Are the orchids on Öland in bloom by now?

All the best,

Hi Ulla.
I have never seen so wonderful glade. Presentation is also perfect: framing the lovely scene, exposure, remote trees and colours are spot on. Bravo.
P.S. In warm seasons we usually live in the country without communications and only once a week I visit the city. I try to use this time to watch and comment shots of my friends here.
