[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It is still cold, the ground is snow-covered and spring is two weeks late with no sign of it. So here is another one from early last summer.

Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth, Hemaris tityus

Swedish name: Svävflugelik dagsvärmare

I saw this curiously shaped object flying slowly about 2 meters above me and before I realised the ID it landed on a misshaped leaf infected by a small gall wasp.

I had no time to up the ISO or change the aperture. I had to take a shot quickly before this pair flew away again and I managed one shot, which I show you now.
I would have liked a better DOF but they are mostly in focus so that the features are clearly seen.

The female is larger as she has to carry her eggs. She is therefore stronger and leads the male during flight.

It is not common but found in most of S. Sweden. And it is scarce but widespread in most of Europe and W. Asia.

The eggs are laid on Knautia and Succisa when it flies in June.

After moderate cropping and size reduction and light adjustment the image was slightly sharpened and converted to JPEG.

Hello Ivan. Moth with transparent wings are unique but I never had a good shot with one yet. These two are finely captured in copula. Beautiful sharpness all around which is never easy to get. You lenswork under fine lighting is very good delivering this fine composition.
Thanks and have a great week.

Hello Ivan,
There's no more snow in this part of my country, but the temperatures are still below zero. This photo remembers at better times. Excellent sharp detailed macro in very beautiful warm colours. Great DOF and a fine composition.

A timely action shot before the pair of these Hawk Moths flew away, Ivan. Both of them are in sharp focus and the camera settings do not seem to have any negative results in this case.
First time that I'm seeing these creatures mating.

Yes, sometimes that one shot matters..never mind the dof or viewpoint etc., its the content that counts...good reflex to get this beautiful species mating. tfs.

Hello Ivan,
Very nice capture with fin details and clarity.Beautiful composition and lovely natural colours.
Best regards,

Hello Ivan

Excellent photo of these lovers in action,
yes they are both in excellent focus,
for the ISO recently I decide to go with
auto ISO lowest 100 and highest 1600 because
I had a situation with the Great Gray Owl
where the ISO i choose at that time was to high,
fine POV here on your photo, the warm light and
color tones gives dynamism to the image, TFS

Very interesting picture, Ivan. You did quite well considering the limitations of capturing this couple.

Hello Ivan
Interesting subject and impressive macro with good composition, wonderful colours and good sharpness.

Hallo Ivan
This is indeed a very eye-catching image, not just because of the "moment of action" you captured but because of the very bright colours and glamorous details seen on both of them. Pleasant composition and close to the eye point of view. The bright colours in the image is very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

wonderful moment this beautiful natural scene, great colors also in great performance!
