[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Tachina praeceps (Zetterstedt, 1824)
Diptera: Tachinidae
The species belong to genus Tachina are generally endoparasitoids of lepidoptera larvae. There are not many data on the biology of Taphrina praeceps. It was found to parasitize some lepidoptera larvae. There is variability on black dots of abdomen and there are some extreme cases in which they are completly absent. This in picture is the typical case. I post two cases on WS. |

Hello Nikos,
All three of your images are wonderful and show us the differences in their markings. Excellent detail and beautiful natural coloring with just the right amount of exposure. TFS.
Ron
Great picture, Nikos, of - if I might say so- a rather unattractive animal.
I enjoyed the note and the workshop pictures too.
Yours,
Geoff
