Hi Djuna, This is a wonderful picture of a volcano. Never seen one live. The lava flow is beautifully captured. The star trails add to the effect.

This is a splendid photo!
The long shutter really helped you into getting the extra light and colors for this amazing catch here and the exposure is well handled.
Also due to that, the stars look more like a meteor shower :))
The tones everywhere are lovely, the details and very nice and sharp and the composition is outstanding!

Hi Djuna,
A spectacular sight, Good shot of star trails but with an erupting volcano as the foreground? Doesn't get much better than that. I'm always impressed by long exposures of starry skies, mainly because I tried in the Himalayas but it was pitch black and so unbelievably cold that it was all a dismal failure. As you say interesting to see the break in the star trails, I wouldn't have expected that. I think composites are fine, people post stitched panoramas and HDR images which really aren't any different. Excellent work, looks like a fantastic place.

Checking TN intermittently these days... I didn't notice the star trails on thumbnail. Truly magnificent view when I clicked on it. Some people deliberately get these gaps by blocking the lens for a few seconds. Very well done. Look forward to seeing more!

Pretty amazing, your shot is very clear, your picture even could catch and diferentiate between the flow structure with the pyroclastics texture of it's lava dome,the molten flow make the volcano really shows the breathtaking activity but in the same time it so tranquil if we see it from distance, thanks for the great notes, really hard effort and dangerous attempt you made there, but the picture is worth a thousand smile :)
