A man should hear a little music, read a little
poetry and see a fine picture every day of his life,
in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the
sense of beautiful which God has implanted in the
human soul.

Johannes Wolfgang von Goethe (1742 - 1832)

Additional note*: Why is this superb duck called mandarine ? Because it is an endemic animal specific to China and it inspired the European travelers to call it that way after observing the local Chinese nobility, the mandarines, that carried themselves with grace and always fancied colorful silks and their hairstyle resembled the ducks mullet. They are also observed in the forests and lakes of Siberia and Japan. Its particular beauty made European travelers spread it and breed it all over the Old World via England, I believe - Radu F.

I don't really like photos of ducks, but this Mandarynka looks so beautiful, that I can make exception and say that I like the photo very much ;-)

Well composed, wonderful colours and details.
Thanks for posting

Not much of a duck person myself but one cannot ignore the wonderful colour and beauty of the Mandarin and your shot has does that beauty justice. The background complements it too I think. I also liked the poetry in the description, very true!

Regards
Matt

Absolutely stunning, Radu. That is a gorgeous shot of this beautiful duck. I like the way it is all fluffed up, exposing all the feathers and their colors. Your photo certainly reminds us of the sense of beauty which God has implanted in our soul. Thank you. : )
