Hello Dietrich,
excellent capture with sharp details, nice natural colors and light, well blured BG and nice POV,I like also the flower,
TFS and best regards,
Nikos.
Hi, Dietrich
I hate to complicate matters, but there are a few points that suggest that this is not A. artaxerxes, primarily the strong black and white "checkering" of the wing margins and the white markings outside the orange spots on the hindwings, neither of which are present in Aricia. I think I can also see a few blue scales on the upperside of the hind wing. I cannot see the underside properly, but from the above and the wing shape, I would suggest a female Polyommatus/Lysandra coridon? If you had a clearer view of the underside it would be conclusive. A very attractive image, nicely complemented by the angled flower spike and soft lighting.
Best wishes, Nigel.

Hallo Dietrich,
Lovely macro capture of the Mountain Argus!
Great sharpness and taken from a nice POV. The colors are very natural and greatly shown through your shot. The blurry BG gives great contrast to the subject.
Great work!
Thanks and regards,
Paras

Riñen en belleza la planta y la mariposa; no sabría con cual quedarme. Sea como fuere, una bella composición y un buen enfoque.
Saludos Dietrich.
Hello Dietrich,
A fine well-composed capture with your compact!
I agree with Nigel on the ID. I am quite familiar with both species and find the chequered markings along the edges of the wings too strong for artaxerxes and there are a few blue scales on the wings that are only present on coridon.
I understand the reasons for your conclusion though, the white-ringed black spot being more typical for artaxerxes, but no, for me this is a female coridon and your WS image tends to confirm this.
Thanks and all the best.
Ivan

Hallo Dietrich
A beauty indeed, and because it is in the colour that is so special to me, it is even more splendid. Good to see another viewpoint of a butterfly than just the ordinary we see daily. I also like the sight of the details of both the inner and outer side of the wings. Best regards.
Anna
